STA consultants travelled with BSES (Bureau of Sugar Experiment Stations) to Far North Queensland sugarcane regions to attend consultation meetings on the impact of sugarcane smut. The sessions, chaired by Dr David Watson, were a key part of the consultation process in his role as head of the Watson enquiry into the Economic Impact of smut on the Queensland sugarcane industry.

STA received a first-hand insight into the issues facing growers, millers and other industry stakeholders which provided invaluable input into the BSES strategic communication planning process.
